Building Muscle

When it comes to building muscle, there are really two things to focus on: diet and exercise.  Both have their places in the fitness and muscle building arena, but they both have their own science to them.  For times sake, I will be going over the exercise basics.  I have broken through the science and I know the secrets to how to build muscle.  I have broken through all of the gimmicks and I'm going to be giving you some hard hitting information that will help you spark your muscle growth.

Exercise Basics

When it comes to building muscle, exercise is a major part of the routine.  You can’t possibly build muscle without breaking it down first. The first thing you need to think about is reps.  When you are building muscle, you need to keep the reps higher; in the range of 8-15 (I personally stay at 12).  The higher your reps, the more of a pump you will get which is what you need to look for if you want to gain some serious mass.

You also need to focus on body parts.  A lot of guys will go into a gym and do chest and biceps all day long for weeks on end and they won’t grow an inch.  Your body won’t produce more muscle until you have had time to let that body part rebuild its self.  You tear a muscle down so it can rebuild its self stronger and larger.  If you don’t give it time to rest, it will never gain any size.  Give yourself a 4 or 5 day split where you only work one or two body parts a day max for a week, alternating body parts.  Monday being chest, Tuesday being back, Wednesday being arms, etc.

The last but most important thing you need to focus on is how you structure your workouts.  You do not need to spend 3 hours in the gym a day in order to build muscle.  A good muscle building workout can typically be completed in 45 minutes – hour and a half.  Any more than that and you’re just hurting yourself.   Take minimum rest (one minute or less) between sets and try to nail 3-4 exercises for each body part and keep it in the 3-4 sets range.
